Because of this when kodi looks for the movie in the movies tab it's not in the spot it thinks it should be, so it'll say not found. For example: plugging the usb into computer A the computer Sees the usb on the E drive, and on computer B it sees the usb on the G drive.
I think the problem is that when you switch computers the drive path that holds the files on the usb may be different when you move to another computer. Have it run a first scrape, and if everything is configured correctly, your movie should pop up properly. Once that's there, along with the 1937 A Star is Born, fire up your portable Kodi install.įrom there, set the folder for movies to "special://xbmc/media/Videos/Movies". Inside the "media" folder, I put a separate folder for "Videos" and then one inside that for "Movies". The media folder's name is lowercase, and I'm aware that certain file systems are case-sensitive so I'm careful not to change that.
Then, it's a matter of putting the media inside Kodi's installation folder- in my case, it's S:\Program Files\Kodi\media.
If you're here from the future and wondering how to do this, first install Kodi on your device in portable mode. I've installed Kodi on a USB flash drive and used the "-p" trick to make it portable, that's working great- unfortunately, I'm not sure how to convince Kodi to take the files in my media library and keep the links permanent when switching between computers is there a way to tell Kodi to look at its installation root rather than the Windows drive letter for the file?ĮDIT: I figured it out, I had to use the Special Protocol.
